Merino Wool Socks are hand knitted by a group of 30 local women in Roșia Montană, women who are members of our social enterprise. Each pair of socks takes approximately 10 hours worth of knitting work.
Made in Roşia Montană is a social project that brings an extra income to more than 30 homesteads in the heart of Transylvania, in a beautiful historic and cultural village. Rosia Montana is one of the oldest settlements in this corner of the world.
It was here that the fight against Europe’s largest gold mine began, which later became one of the most important social and environmental movements in Eastern Europe.
These 60 working hands are knitting the future of Roşia Montană.
